The picture
Pallavi is a 24 year old young girl who has recently relocated from Chennai to Pune on account of her transfer. She works with an IT firm and lives with her Aunt Kusum and Uncle Narayan at Hinjewadi Phase 2.
Pallavi is not much of a fan of old photographs but this particular day she was completely immersed in those faded pictures. Her Aunt reminds her that she is late for office but she is hesitant to give up the moment. She surfs through it to find a naked picture of in hers as a baby. The gentle smile on her face disappears. Meanwhile, after a long period of not responding to her Aunt’s calls, Aunt barges into her room to find her sitting on the floor and crumbling the photograph in her hand. She is once again reminded that she is late for work and Pallavi is forced to get dressed for office. Pallavi whines that she feels weak and would like to take rest at home, to which her Aunt replies, that she has been on leave for 2 days straight and that she has to work hard to achieve her goals. Her Aunt hands her a towel and nudges her into the bathroom.
Pallavi manages to take a shower and gets herself ready for office. She finds a cab but her travel to office is delayed because of a flat tyre. Pallavi is convinced she should find a rickshaw back home. As she reaches the entrance of her home, she decides take a moment to realize that she can never give up. Determined she reaches office and finds a huge crowd waiting for the elevator. She catches glimpses of a well-dressed middle aged man, conversing with his colleague. Feeling the stare, he looks at her and smiles. She becomes uncomfortable and decides to climb the stairs instead of taking the elevator.
After a brief team meeting, she is called to her Boss’ office. She starts sweating profusely and is hesitant to leave her cubicle. It is pretty common these days with the work pressure that comes with her designation. When she receives a 2nd call, she drags herself to her Boss’ cabin. He asks her about the recent development in her presentation and she begins to stutter. He calms her down and hands over a picture. She takes a look at it and is devastated. There, a naked picture of hers. The man’s hand slowly moves to her nape as he pushes the door shut.
